Christopher Latham played with the Australian Chamber Orchestra for seven years, before forming the eclectic collective and the Sculthorpe Quartet. He has premiered over 40 new works by Peter Sculthorpe, Ross Edwards, Elena Kats-Chernin, Brett Dean, Nigel Westlake, Graeme Koehne, Matthew Hindson, Gareth Farr and others, and has played over 40 Australian premieres of works by compsers such as Arvo Part, James MacMillan, Alfred Schnittke, Morton Feldman, John Tavener, Toru Takemitsu, Michael Torke, Somei Satoh and George Antheil.

From 1998 to 2003, he looked after the publishing operations of Boosey and Hawkes Australia, where he was responsible for most of the major Australian composers. He directed the chamber music series for the Adelaide Festival in 2002 before serving as the Australian Artistic Director of the Australian Festival of Chamber Music (Townsville) in 2005 and 2006, and as Artistic Director of the Four Winds Festival (Bermagui) for the 2006 and 2008 festivals. He is currently the Artistic Director of the Canberra International Music Festival and the music director for the Gallipoli Symphony, a ten year, tri-nation commissioning project, which will premiere as part of the 100th Anniversary of the Gallipoli landings in 2015.
